#whatwouldbuddysay

Buddy Fergurson finds it somewhat insulting that just because he finally discovered using hash tags on his instagram posts, that some people think he's been lax in his blog posting!

The Unified Front

With all the political shenanigans that have recently been filling the news,
Buddy Fergurson can't help but wonder why humans find it so hard to figure out
that it IS possible for one to function successfully within a group, while still working to further
their own agenda.

Take this recent weekday morning photo for example.
Buddy, along with Kevin and Franky,
have all presented a unified front as they patiently wait for their dad to finish his shower
and take them for their walk.
BUT, individual motives are actually afoot.

Franky can't wait to get back from his walk, which he really thinks he can do without,
so he can snuggle down and resume his nap...
which his mom just interrupted with the camera.

Kevin is on high alert for the garbage truck.
He spotted the cans out the front window, so he's all set to announce
the truck's arrival
and defend his home territory when it appears.
It doesn't seem to matter that it's already been there.
Any passing truck will do.

And Buddy?
Buddy knows after that after their walk, Buddy's mom will usually
make toast or heat up a muffin.
So that means crumbs.
And in addition to crumbs, if she's really in a generous mood
-which she normally is-
that means she will share a bite of it with him.
(even though his dad will tell her not to)
AND, if she's not too sleepy,
she may even put jam on that muffin
and that would be even better!

Unified front.
Works every time...
and everyone wins in the end!

Always Room For One More

Buddy Fergurson considers himself pretty lucky that he has a dad with a magical lap that seems to expand for any pet that happens upon it.
This, of course, makes things more comfy for everyone, which is particularly important since the Cardinals are in the playoffs, and football and hockey are starting.

Well, Franky still has a few things to work out with the comfy part...

Fun and (Pug) Games

When asked about his weekend with his new brother Franky, Buddy Fergurson decided he
would provide the short abbreviated version -
which went something like this:

Franky goes under the bed
Buddy goes under the bed
Franky comes out from under the bed
Buddy, gets stuck under the bed.

 I'd smile too, Franky!

Buddy and Kevin Welcome Their New Brother Franky

It was quite a weekend!

Buddy Fergurson's plans for a quiet Labor Day came to an abrupt end when his parents told him that he would be going on an exciting journey in the car to possibly adopt a new brother for him!

It seems his mom had been secretly scrolling through her Facebook feed a few weeks earlier and saw that Pug Planet Rescue (who she had adopted Kevin from), had published a post from their friends at Animal Allies about handsome young man named Milo who really really needed a new home.  Something about his sweet little face connected instantly with Buddy's mom, she set the application process in motion, and the next thing Buddy knew he found himself in the car with Kevin, going to meet the little guy that they had read so much about!

Buddy's mom was just delighted that the car ride had been uneventful, and when they arrived Milo came right outside to meet them!  After a fast circle, smell and pee... Buddy, Kevin and Milo quickly created their own mutual admiration society and set off to patrol in rescue mom Linda's back yard.
Buddy's dad kept a watchful eye, his mom filled out the necessary paperwork, and Milo soon found himself with two new brothers!

A new name was in order, so Milo became Cecil....who then... became Franky (with a y) as Buddy heard his mom tell her friends!

Back home, Buddy and Kevin showed Franky all their favorite "spots" in the backyard.

Buddy's sister Molly came over and showed Franky the new bed that
mom had bought just for him!

Kevin then introduced Franky all of his (other) favorite places to sleep...

.... including his dad's lap!

Then Buddy's big brother Adam came to meet Franky!

And after helping Adam catch up on some important reading.... Franky settled right on
in to his new family!

We're all very happy to have you with us Franky, and we already love you to pieces!

(and check out that new Martha Stewart Bow Tie Collar...)

The Grill Master

Fancying himself a Master of the Grill, Buddy Fergurson recently became a bit TOO
interested in the process...often finding himself in unwise and compromising positions
behind and under the apparatus.

Yep, sometime living so close to a PETCO can definitely have a downside ~

Buddy Goes Back to Work

It's the first work day of the New Year and Buddy Fergurson,
and his brother Kevin,
set forth to plan their day.

Number 1 - Keep an eye on Buddy's shoe
Number 2 - Take a rest from keeping an eye on Buddy's shoe

It's shaping up to be a long month ~

Buddy's Holiday Spirit

It's only a few more weeks until Christmas and Buddy Fergurson is all wrapped up in the Spirit of the Season!

First he helped his Mom unpacked his Christmas Stocking

Then he found some cute wallpaper to put on his computer!

He had a talk with his conscience about all the tasty treats he may
be tempted by within the next few weeks.
  Buddy promised to use restraint.

Wrapping presents actually proved to be more difficult then planned, but Buddy did his best.
He's a wiz with the scissors!

Needing a rest, Buddy also took a few minutes to look through his photo album, remembering
the time his grandma made Santa Suits for himself, Kevin and Princess.
Mom tried so hard to take a photo.
Needless to say, it didn't quite work out the way she planned.
Buddy gave up and walked off!

She did manage to get a cute shot of Princess though.
Boy, she's sure going to be missed this year.

All and all, Buddy is confident that his Christmas will be a good one.  He is very thankful for his family and all that he has in his life.
So much so, he decided to cooperate with his mom and take a "real" Christmas
 photo this year this year!

Have a safe and Happy Holiday Season!

The Storm

When Buddy Fergurson first heard about Hurricane Sandy approaching his town, he watched his mom run around preparing for the storm, but he really didn't know what to expect.

It sure a wasn't much fun, but Buddy is very happy to report that everyone at
his house and in his
neighborhood is safe and doing fine.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those effected by Hurricane Sandy.  Buddy and his family also urge everyone to support the shelter and rescue programs that are in need of contributions, and also the pet adoption progarms that will also be brimming with rescues in need of donations and  homes after the storm.

Under Supervision

Buddy Fergurson doesn't seem to understand why his mom put the gate across the deck and said that he needs supervision in the backyard.  Sure, Kevin might not get along very well with that opossum she saw in the lawn this morning, but Buddy is always willing to make a new friend!

The New Pet

When Buddy Fergurson heard that there was a new pet in his Mom's art studio that
would be sharing space with him, he was not worried.

There's always room for one more!

Snoozer's Anonymous?

It's the last day of June and Princess Fergurson is pretty disgusted with her ole pal Buddy.
Not one single post all month.
Sure, one snooze leads to another...but when they start to run together...into a full MONTH
then there's a problem.

Snoozers Anonymous...
maybe that's the answer

When asked about his most recent surgery, the 2nd in less than 2 weeks, Buddy Fergurson responded with a firm - "No comment, I'm resting".

What happened you might ask?

In a nut shell -

- Buddy's mom takes him to the Vet because his neck seems to be hurting.

- During the office visit the Vet points out that Buddy is due for his Senior Wellness Exam - which all dogs should have starting at the age of 7.

- The ultrasound from the wellness exam reveals that Buddy has bladder stones, the kind that cannot be dissolved by medication, so he is scheduled for surgery to remove the stones before they become lodged in his urinary tract.

- Buddy is recovering from his bladder stone stone surgery, but his mom still thinks that something is "just not quite right".  She can't put her finger on it, and neither can the Vet... until he
decides to look around on Buddy's tummy further up from the bladder with the ultrasound.  That's when he discovers 2 tumors on Buddy's spleen.

-The Vet describes the situation as a 'ticking time bomb", so Buddy has surgery again, a few days later, this time to remove his spleen.

Buddy is resting and getting along just fine!  We'll have to see what the results are from the biopsy later this week.

Moral of the story...

One thing leads to another.... Thank goodness for Senior Wellness Exams because both of these conditions would probably have gone unnoticed until they were critical.

Get Well Buddy!

If it seems like Buddy Fergruson has been kind of quiet lately, he's been resting up from the surgery he had earlier this week.  A few weeks ago during his routine Senior Wellness Screening (which starts at age 7), the Vet found that Buddy had bladder stones.  He had them removed on Monday and seems to be doing fine - although he hasn't been very cooperative taking his antibiotic. (his mom will probably be switching to a liquid soon).  Feel better Buddy!
